Machin Definitive, 1967
Machin Definitive, 1967

The Machin Definitive (term for an Every Day Use stamp) was first adopted by St. Helena (a British island colony in Southern Africa where Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) was captured) in 1961 for its definitive series in the same year, which soon it was portraited on British commemorative and special stamps since 1966, the British low values in 1967 (which superceded the Wilding definitives of 1952) and the British high values since 1969 (to replace the castles issue of 1955). The stamp was designed by Arnold Machin (1911-1999)
